Meet Chef Judy, Our Founder

As a second generation Chinese American, youngest of four girls and daughter of a chef, my culinary journey began at the French Culinary Institute in NYC. After working as a pastry chef and culinary school instructor, I launched Silk Cakes, a cake shop known for unique Asian flavor combinations.

When the pandemic closed my decade-long business in 2020, I founded Roots in Rice in 2024. Its mission is to push cultural boundaries by introducing Asian-inspired baking mixes into American households.
